National Library Week Activities

Forest Grove City Library is participating in the annual National Library Week Celebration sponsored by Washington County Consolidated Library Services (WCCLS), the Regional Arts and Culture Council, the Community Newspapers (which includes the Forest Grove News-Times) and other groups including the Friends of the Forest Grove Library.  These groups sponsor the Hearing Voices Storytelling Festival Performer.

 

Tuesday, April 15, 7 p.m. Library:  Storyteller Anne Rutherford: A Suitcase Full of Stories

Life, legends, history and fairytales come alive through the magic of storytelling with Anne Rutherford and "A Suitcase Full of Stories" at the Forest Grove City Library at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in the Rogers Meeting Room.  FREE for all ages - especially adults and school-aged children. 

 

Saturday, April 19, 4:30 – 7 p.m. Library: Piano Celebration and Dedication: Hosted by the Library Foundation.

 

Tuesday, April 22, 7 p.m. Community Auditorium:  Town Hall Forum: “How to Become a Well-informed voter in the 24/7 News Era" sponsored by Friends of the Library.

 

Thursdays, month of April only, 10:15 a.m. Library:  Toddler Time for Children 18-36 months and their adults.  Each Thursday in April at 10:15 a.m. there will be Toddler Time activities, music, and stories for children 18 to 36 months and their adults in the Rogers Meeting Room.  The two remaining scheduled programs are:  April 17 - "ABC and Me" and April 24: "Books Big and Little".  There will be a free book for the toddlers attending the final session.  This early childhood learning opportunity is made possible by a Ready to Read Grant from the Oregon State Library.

 

Preschool Storytimes Weekly:  Each Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. during the school year the Forest Grove Library has a regular storytime prepared for 3-6 year olds and their adults.  There are stories, music, poems, and a follow-up activity related to the week's theme.
