Urban and Rural Reserves Open House
What is in the future for the area around Forest Grove? This is an opportunity for you to get involved in an effort to look 50 years in the future about how that area should be.
Metro and its member cities and counties, including Forest Grove, are currently trying to plan the shape of the region for the next 50 years.
During the next 16 months, Washington, Multnomah and Clackamas Counties will work with Metro to assess which areas outside the Urban Growth Boundary are most suitable for future growth. Besides growth areas, the effort will also identify areas where it is more appropriate to maintain working farms, forests and natural features over the same period. The result will be the creation of urban and rural reserves.
The first task in this effort is to identify areas for study. The next step will then evaluate these areas to determine possible locations of future urban areas as well as areas to keep in agriculture or forestry or keep in low density to protect natural features.
To gather public input on the process so far, Washington County will hold an open house in Forest Grove on Thursday, June 26, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Community Auditorium, 1915 Main Street, Forest Grove.
