Police Department: National Night Out

Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

The Forest Grove Police Department hosts the Annual National Night Out event on the first Tuesday of August from 5 to 8 pm.  The event will be held on the Pacific University Campus along College Way.  The entire community will be welcomed with free food, safety vehicles on display, activities for children and families and live entertainment. It’s a time for the town to come together to put this on and then enjoy a fun community event.

Police coordinators rely on the business community or individuals to help make the National Night Out event successful.  Items and services that are needed include:

  • Donation of goods and/or services (hot dogs, buns, condiments, chips, cookies, soda, popcorn machine, cotton candy machine, etc.)
  • Monetary contributions.
  • Volunteering to help with the set-up, clean-up or day of the event.
  • Hosting a booth with an activity for those attending.

If you or your organization is interested in participating, please contact Community Service Officer at 503.992.3108 by July 1st to assist with the planning of this great community event.

2009 Event

The Forest Grove Police Department hosted its Annual National Night Out at Lincoln Park on the evening of August 4th. The event was attended by over 1,000 people this year – a resounding success. The success could not have been achieved without the exceptional support of our fellow city employees.  Forest Grove Light & Power provided rides in a bucket-truck – a big hit with the children who attended our event.  The Forest Grove Library brought books about various services the city provides – a great opportunity to promote reading and all the services we provide.  Forest Grove Fire & Rescue stopped by with Truck 4, Rescue 4, and one of their new engines!  A huge thanks to Tom Gamble for helping coordinate an outstanding location – Lincoln Park and the Aquatic Center staff, who also provided a table at the event. Several folks from City Hall helped as well – face painting was a hit with the children (and a few adults).

We had tremendous volunteer support from so many community members and graduates of our Citizen’s Academy from earlier this year. Families enjoyed a skateboarding exhibition, some great food, and live music. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event!
