Citizen's Academy 2010

The Forest Grove Police Department will host a Citizen’s Academy scheduled to begin on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, and conclude on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 . The Academy will not be held during the week of Spring Break.

The Academy will be held at the Forest Grove Community Auditorium located at 1915 Main Street in Forest Grove. Academy sessions will be held every Wednesday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

The Academy course content is scheduled to include sessions on patrol procedures, criminal investigations, forensics, and other criminal justice-related content.

Individuals interested in attending the Academy must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Resident of the City of Forest Grove, or regularly employed within the City of Forest Grove.
  2. At least 18 years old. 
  3. No felony criminal convictions
  4. No more than one misdemeanor criminal conviction (the nature of the criminal conviction will be considered when making an eligibility decision).

The Academy is limited to 25 seats and applications are due to the Forest Grove Police Department by 5:00pm on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 . The Academy is free. Applications can be picked up at the Forest Grove Police Station.

Successful Completion of 2009 Citizen’s Academy Successful Completion of 2009 Citizens Academy

On Wednesday, April 15, 2009, ten members of the first Forest Grove Police Department Citizen’s Academy graduated at the Forest Grove Community Auditorium. During the eight week academy, members received sessions on Patrol Procedures, Traffic Enforcement, Crash Investigations, Emergency Vehicle Operations, Search & Seizure, Use of Force, Investigations, Critical Incidents, Emotional Survival, Neighborhood Watch, Code Enforcement, Public Information, Policies, Funding, and Department Administration.
