On behalf of the City of Forest Grove, our City Council and our employees, I wanted to take a moment to express our deep gratitude... more
Are You An Island?
The Forest Grove City Council will be considering the idea of annexing unincorporated properties (called "islands") into the City limits. The islands are properties outside the City but entirely surrounded by the Forest Grove City limits.
For the most part, these islands enjoy all the services presently provided by the City. By annexing these properties into the City, these residents would have a full voice on City matters. Currently, there are 24 islands remaining within the growth boundary totaling about 75 acres. When the growth boundary was established some thirty years ago, it was envisioned that these areas would someday become part of the City.
City planning staff will be available to answer questions and provide you with more information during a community open house on Saturday, May 14, 2011. The open house will be held at the Community Auditorium, 1915 Main Street, and will begin at 9 AM. Please drop in if you own an "island" property or if you would like to learn more about the annexation process.
The City Council also wants to hear from citizens about the "island" annexation idea. An opportunity for comment will be on the Council's May 23rd meeting agenda. City Council meetings start at 7:00 PM and are held at the Community Auditorium, 1915 Main Street. For more information, please contact the Community Development Department at 503.992.3227.
