City Prepares for Winter Weather
City of Forest Grove Public Works crews have used their ingenuity in preparing for winter 
weather. Crews have built a de-icing truck for use on City streets this winter. It uses a spraying unit built originally for agricultural spraying and it has been modified to spray magnesium chloride which is the current chosen chemical for roadway de-icing.
In previous years, City crews would spread sand and gravel for traction on icy streets and would spend hours cleaning up the sand and gravel and disposing it after icy conditions had subsided. Using this machine is more effective and will save time and money as well as create a more sustainable community.
