Latest News

The City Engineering and Public Works Department will be completing a couple of street construction projects during the last weeks of summer before school begins.  Please be aware of possible detours and road closures in the following areas:

  • Bonnie and “B” Street intersection
  • Hawthorne Street between 22nd and 23rd Avenues
  • Mountain View Lane between 19th Avenue and Beaver Way.

Bonnie and “B” Street:  Work on drainage improvements at the intersection of Bonnie and "B" Street will begin the week of August 15th and last approximately two weeks.  At times during construction it will be necessary to detour traffic around this intersection.  The City and contractor will work closely together to limit inconveniences.

Hawthorne Street between 22nd and 23rd Avenues:  The closure is scheduled for Tuesday, August 16, with a re-open date of Friday, August 19, in the evening.  Our anticipated construction schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, August 16 – remove asphalt at crossing
  • Wednesday, August 17 & Thursday, August 18 - remove and replace the crossing
  • Friday, August 19 - repave the crossing area

Mountain View Lane between 19th Avenue and Beaver Way:  The closure is scheduled for Monday, August 29, with a re-open date of Wednesday, August 31.  Our anticipated construction schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, August 29 – remove asphalt at crossing
  • Tuesday, August 30 - remove and replace the crossing
  • Wednesday, August 31 - repave the crossing area

The City of Forest Grove and Portland & Western Railroad will be improving two railroad crossings here in Forest Grove as joint projects. The crossing on Mountain View Lane will be re-constructed with a concrete highway style crossing similar to the one on Quince Street while the crossing on Hawthorne Street will be repaved with asphalt after reconstruction of the rail, ties, and ballast rock. The City is responsible for all the paving work while P&W has agreed to complete improvements to the rail crossing.

Any questions on these projects or other street concerns may be directed to the Engineering Office at 503.992.3228.  More information can be found on the City’s website at Public Works Streets or Engineering Project Status pages.
