Historic Landmarks Board Offers Window Workshop
To encourage historic preservation, Forest Grove's Historic Landmarks Board is offering a free do-it-yourself workshop on how to restore wood windows. The workshop will be Saturday, May 7, from 10 am to 2:30 pm in the Community Auditorium, 1915 Main Street, Forest Grove.
You'll learn:
- Why double-hung windows are constructed the way they are
- How to get double-hung windows unstuck after they have been painted shut
- How to repair window glazing
- How to replace broken ropes and weights
- How to take double-hung windows apart, repair them, and put them back together
- How to save energy by weatherizing and installing wooden storm windows
- And more!
Our expert present is Geoffrey Halsey, co-owner of East Portland Sash & Carpentry, who has graciously volunteered his time to share his knowledge and experience.
Sack lunches are encouraged. Coffee/tea and pastries will be served in the morning. Seats are limited, so please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to reserve your spot(s).
