The Forest Grove Sister Cities Committee is sponsoring a hands-on cooking class as a fundraiser for delegation trips and visits with our Sister City, Nyuzen, Japan.  Bring your apron and get ready to learn how to make traditional Japanese-style dishes!

The class will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011, from 11 am to 1:30 pm at the Neil Armstrong Middle School, 1777 Mountain View Lane, in Forest Grove.  Class registration fee is $25 or $22 for students and includes free chopsticks.

The class instructor, Ms. Kazuko Ikeda, will demonstrate and share all her secrets using traditional Japanese ingredients needed to make two popular Japanese-style rice bowl dishes:  1) Donburi, a Japanese rice bowl dish topped with meats and/or vegetables; and 2) Oyakodon, a Japanese rice bowl topped with meats and/or vegetables and egg.  Both dishes are very delicious.  At the end of class, participants will enjoy eating and sharing their Japanese-style creations.  The participants will also learn more about international culture and the relationship Forest Grove has with its Sister City, Nyuzen, Japan.
