New Holiday Market in Forest Grove
Artisans in the Grove, the newest addition to Forest Grove's First Wednesday events, is excited to announce that they will be holding the 1st Annual Artisans Holiday Market on November 2nd and December 3rd.
'Tis the season for holiday bazaars and this new one in Forest Grove is expected to be big! With over 20 vendors featuring a variety of different holiday gift ideas that have been handcrafted or repurposed by talented local artisans, this new market is expected to be a highlight of Forest Grove holiday activities and a huge success to be repeated every year.
The November 2nd Holiday Market will run in conjunction with City Club of Forest Grove’s November First Wednesday from 4–8 p.m. and the December 3rd event will be during Forest Grove’s Holiday in the Grove, held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both Holiday Markets will be located in the Forest Grove Masonic Hall building at 2019 Main Street in downtown Forest Grove.
Artisans in the Grove is a group of local artists and crafters that came about from several conversations around a kitchen table, and subsequent interactions with members of the community highlighting the interest and need for an affordable, regularly-occurring market to display and sell their artisan goods and services. They represent vendors seeking an affordable market for their high quality handcrafted or repurposed arts, crafts, textiles and demonstrations. As an affiliate of the City Club of Forest Grove, they join in the mission to improve the vitality of the downtown Forest Grove area and help with the operation of City Club’s events.
After a successful first summer market season ended, it was suggested that the Artisans group organize a holiday bazaar in conjunction with Holiday in the Grove, a seasonal event put on by City Club and thus the idea of a Holiday Market was born.
The primary objectives of Artisans in the Grove include:
· Providing a low-cost opportunity for local artists to share their talents with the community through arts, crafts, textiles, pottery, etc. Demonstration space is also available for artisans and businesses that offer classes and/or performance services in the arts.
· Promoting the sales of these goods and services for smaller scale vendors (home crafters etc.), as well as established artists and businesses in the Forest Grove and surrounding areas.
· Complimenting the mission of the weekly Forest Grove Farmer's Market which must maintain strict guidelines for the participation of crafters/artists in order to comply with certification produce and agricultural regulations.
· Encouraging increased foot-traffic and business in the downtown area of Forest Grove, contributing to the economic vitality of the city.
