Latest News

Due to measures beyond our control, a large portion of the City will see a momentary loss of electric service for approximately thirty seconds this coming weekend, September 23-25, 2011.

The Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) is nearing completion to the upgrades to their electric switching station on Oak Street that they have been working on all summer.  To put the station back into service, they will need to deenergize the 115,000 volt transmission line that feeds it, and pick it back up from a different direction.  This momentary open and close will be the cause of the loss of service to two of our three electric substations that feed the City.

This will happen in two stages with the first occurring on Friday, September 23, between the hours of 4:00 and 5:00 am.  Once again the loss of service should only be around thirty seconds.  This outage will affect mostly customers on the east side of town.

The second outage will happen on Sunday, September 25, at approximately 3:00 am.  This outage will affect customers mostly on the west and north sections of town.

Please be assured that the City of Forest Grove and BPA regret the inconvenience this will cause to our customers.  If there are any questions, please contact Keith Hormann, Light & Power Operations Superintendent, at 503-992-3252.
