The Small Business Development Committee of the Forest Grove Economic Development Commission, along with local non-profit Adelante Mujeres, is assessing the feasibility of creating a Buy Local program to strengthen the Forest Grove economy by supporting local businesses.

The committee believes that increased local sales will improve the economic health of the City and will lead to a greater variety of businesses that want to locate in Forest Grove.  The committee seeks input from the community and from local retailers on how to formulate and implement the Buy Local Program.

The committee encourages Forest Grove residents and retailers to help guide the planning of this campaign by filling out short surveys designed to collect information about the needs and opportunities within the community. One survey is designed for local residents and consumers, it can be found at:https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/consumers_forestgrovebuylocal

Another survey is designed for local business owners, it can be found at:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/business_forestgrovebuylocal

Alternatively, printed copies of the surveys will be available at the Forest Grove Library, City Hall, the Chamber of Commerce, the offices of Adelante Mujeres, BJ's Coffee, and at the Forest Grove Farmers Market.  Results will be tabulated at the end of June.

"We hope to have many returned surveys," says committee member Kati Mayfield.  "We want to put together a buy local program that will entice shoppers and produce great results for local businesses."
