Storm Causes Loss of Power
The extended outages that began Sunday night and lasted into Monday morning were caused by several cases of trouble resulting from storm damage to the Bonneville Power transmission line systems and equipment between Forest Grove and Tillamook.
These outages affected approximately 7000 customers on the Forest Grove system and many other customers on the lines that feed to Tillamook. The City is currently operating at 75% capacity of the transformers until repairs are made by BPA to their equipment which puts customers at risk of extended outages if any more failures occur.
The City's actual distribution system experienced only one storm-related minor power outage when a tree branch broke and touched a 12,000 volt line on Maple Street affecting one customer for about 20 minutes around 7:00 am Monday morning.
Light & Power crews were able to restore power as quickly as possible with the help of City police, fire and public works departments focusing on all of the intersections that were without power for such a long time.
