Lost & Found Property
Call to inquire if a lost or misplaced item has been turned in. Found property is held for 90 days. See below for a list of items currently in safekeeping.
Safekeeping Items
If you were arrested and your property is being held at the police department, please call during normal business hours to schedule an appointment and to retrieve your items. Please bring picture ID. Items will be held for no longer than 90 days after which time they will be destroyed. If you are unable to retrieve your property within 90 days, you may provide a notarized letter authorizing a third party to claim the property for you.
Recovered Stolen Items
If your item(s) was stolen and has been recovered the Evidence Specialist will attempt to contact you at the last address and phone number on file. Please bring picture ID when retrieving your property.
Disposition of Unclaimed Property
The Forest Grove Police Department has in its physical possession unclaimed personal property. If you have any interest in any of that unclaimed property, you must file a claim with the Forest Grove Police Department within 30 days from the date of publication of this notice, or you will lose interest in that property. A sufficient description of the property must be present to establish, with reasonable certainty, that the person claiming the property is the owner.
Abandoned Property as of November 2025
The Forest Grove Police Department has a duty to protect property and return it to the rightful owner, so you will need to provide proof of ownership for any item you claim. This must include a detailed description of the item, purchase receipts with detailed descriptions, or photographs documenting the item.
If you believe an item may belong to you, email the Evidence Specialist or send a letter to:
