Compost Coupon
Every spring, each residential customer that receives food and yard debris collection is offered a coupon for up to three cubic yards of compost (direct from Waste Management) for only $10 per yard; a $15 per yard savings. Watch for your coupon in your spring statement. Redeem your coupon to Nature's Needs (also known as Recology Organics) compost facility to receive this discounted offer. Limit one coupon per customer/household.
Find A Recycler
Use Metro's Find a Recycler tool for easy options to recycle, donate, or reuse anything from batteries and packing peanuts to that old dishwasher, search the directory or call 503-234-3000.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection
Metro hosts free household hazardous waste collection events in communities across the Portland region during spring and fall. Visit Metro's website for a full list of neighborhood collection events.
Sharps, Batteries, and Light Bulb Collection
Metro partners with community organizations to host small-scale collection events throughout the year. Starting the last Saturday of every month from 10 AM to 1 PM, beginning on April 25, 2026, Central Cultural (1110 N. Adair St., Cornelius, OR 97113) will accept the following materials only:
- Medical sharps
- Household batteries that are power tool-sized or smaller
- Compact fluorescent light bulbs (no broken bulbs)
Paint Recycling
PaintCare offers drop-off sites throughout Oregon where the public can take unwanted paint for recycling. These sites are available to households, businesses, government agencies, and others with leftover paint. PaintCare sites accept house paint as well as primers, stains, sealers, and clear coatings such as shellac and varnish. To find a drop-off location near you visit the PaintCare website.

The City of Forest Grove is a member of the Washington County Cooperative Recycling Program, Learn what items are allowed in your garbage, recycling, and glass bins by reviewing the recycling guidelines. The Cooperative Program provides waste reduction and recycling education and assistance for community members, apartment property managers, and workplaces.

Recycling Requirements
Businesses are required to separate recycling for collection. As a business owner, you must provide bins, labeled collection areas, and instructions for employees. To learn more and request free assistance, posters, signage, and bins visit Washington County's business recycling website.
Business Food Scrap Requirement
Businesses that generate 250 lbs. of food, water, or more a week are also required to separate food scraps for collection as part of a region-wide policy. By separating food scraps, this material can be used to create nutrient-rich fertilizers and clean energy. As a business owner, you must provide bins, labeled collection areas, and instructions for employees by reviewing the recycling guidelines. Free onsite assistance, staff training, indoor collection bins, posters, and stickers are available through Washington County.
Forest Grove City Council approves rates charged by Waste Management. Rates vary based on the size of the subscribed garbage cart, allowing customers to choose the container size that fits their needs.
Residential and commercial rates are effective July 1, 2025.
Service Interruptions
Weather conditions such as snow, severe heat, and smoke may interrupt garbage, recycling, and yard debris collection. In the event of a service disruption, please visit Waste Management for service updates and answers to FAQ's.
