Power Outages

In Case of an Outage

  1. Check your electrical panel. Look for tripped breakers or blown fuses. Try to reset the breakers by switching them off, and then back on. Replace the blown fuses if needed.
  2. Never go near a downed power line. The power may or may not be off.
  3. Never plug or attempt to wire a generator into your electrical panel. Fatal accidents involving repair crews can occur if the generator is not installed properly.

Report an Outage

If power does not return after checking the electrical panel, please call Forest Grove Light & Power at 503-992-3250. After business hours, please call 503-412-2444. Please report any flashes, bangs, or trees in lines that can help crews locate damage.

Report Street Light Outage

To report a street light that is not working properly, email M. Hoffman, or call our office at 503-992-3250. Please include your contact information (name, address, and phone number) and the location of the street light.

System Reliability

Even with a modern and well-maintained system, we still occasionally experience a service interruption. Although long-duration outages are rare, be prepared. Put together an emergency kit that is easily accessible in case of a lengthy power outage or other natural event. Supplies should include a flashlight, lantern, bottled water, easy-to-prepare food items, and a first aid kit. Many cordless phones do not work during outages. Have access to a conventional or cell phone.
